Interim Management

IT is complex and a standing wheel in the gearbox will have consequences.

  • Whether the short-term loss of an important IT manager can be compensated,
  • a new business model is to be implemented with IT, but no suitable one is available
  • it’s urgently needed to plug the security holes in the infrastructure, but with perspective, or …

This list could probably be continued for a very long time. As an interim manager, organizer or consultant, I will slip into the right role at short notice and fill it for as long as you need me. As a bridging until the personnel gap is closed again, until certain target parameters are reached or simply until the end of the assignment. Without long application procedures, without severance pay, without risk. Due to my 25-year career in IT and as a manager, I am able to adjust to your situation very quickly and become effective.

Strategy development and Restructuring

The business strategy is the basis for the strategy of IT, as a service provider of the company. Without a clear direction, IT will not be what you expect it to be. I support you in defining the goals for IT and, if necessary, also for the company. If the IT is not set up appropriately, I will support you in repositioning the team, adapting established IT business processes for you or doing what is currently necessary in close coordination with you.

In tangible crises, fixed plans with simple scenarios help to get things under control first and then, building on this, to tackle the medium and long-term goals.

Modern IT Management

The IT must be available. A failure, whether short or long, can have serious consequences for the company’s goals, and indeed for the company as a whole. The networking of business processes, even beyond the boundaries of the company, often makes IT restrictions known to customers and suppliers and can damage the company’s reputation.

Modern IT management must meet many different standards. It takes experience and a sense of proportion to determine, structure and weight these standards. Disbalances must be avoided, because they either cost a lot of money or do not create the basis for the IT stability that is generally expected. I support you in finding this balance, in defining the IT management processes, in selecting and introducing the appropriate tools, in selecting service managers or in finding and coaching employees.

Agile Product Development

The time window for the development of new products to find their place in the market is getting smaller and smaller. In addition, it is becoming more difficult to assess marketability with sufficient accuracy in advance. No matter whether 5-, 6- or even 7-digit amounts have to be invested in the IT of the product alone, it always hurts if it does not work.

My meanwhile longtime experience in agile product development is useful for you when it comes to developing first results quickly and cost-efficiently, to place them on the market and to develop them in depth with the gained feedback. From the MVP a full-fledged product for which the customers are willing to pay. I provide support along the entire process chain from the evaluation of the idea, the definition of the MVP, the coaching of the employees in the agile methods and the formation of an effective development team.

IT Security and Data Protection

IT security is now one of the TOP3 of a CIO. The sophisticated attack scenarios and tools and the effects that have already affected many companies make many companies think about what else needs to be done. In many cases, it is negligence in the infrastructure and in the behaviour of the employees that leads to sometimes fatal consequences.  The DSGVO projects should have been completed in all companies by now and yet the underlying processes must be regularly reviewed and adapted to new circumstances.

I will take stock of the situation and show you the points that should be prioritised. In acute cases we will instantiate simple procedures until the situation is under control. Building on this, we will then take measures that may affect processes, tools and people. A training plan for the employees, framed by a suitable IT security governance will also be part of the measures.

Enable

For a new digital business model: We start with the evaluation, move on to the creation of the business cases and the MVP definition. Setting up the product management for the overall control and forming the development team. Then the decision whether to use SCRUM or a derivative and process.

Nobody likes to remember the last project. So back to square one. Customer analysis, a rapid prototype, feedback collected, the MVP realized and further developed in iterations a product that reaches customers.

Transform

You want to change the direction of your teams, introduce them to the use of modern IT management and development methods so that they are fit for the future and become attractive for new talent.

Having survived the last IT outage more or less unscathed, the realization has now matured that IT services and technologies require a fundamental review and, if necessary, revision.

Consolidate

Your IT budget has increased excessively in recent years, without any significant added value. It is time to reduce the variety of technologies used, service providers and version levels, and thus significantly lower costs.

Decisions take a long time, the implementation of these even much longer. You know that speed is a key competitive factor and if IT does not deliver, it will be difficult. Structures and processes should be streamlined, responsibilities clearly defined and decisions measurable.
